Dear music lovers and visitors - Dear Audience,

After an indescribable year where everyone in the world has been in desperation and lack of being able to be together, we are more than excited to be able to present this year's program for Møn Sommerkoncert 2021 and to look forward to embrace the presence through music at this our 4th Season !

2020 gave unimaginable challenges for everyone, and the world of art was one of the first to feel the many limitations. Møn Sommerkoncert in 2020 was not without changes either, but the many necessities to be adaptable also brought with them new experiences that together pushed the festival in new directions.

This year, Møn Summer Concert opens with ballet, when dancers from the grand performance 'Verdensballetten' visit Møn for the first time in a special indoor edition in 'Saftstationens' intimate setting. Music and dance are two inseparable forms of expression and it will be a unique chance to experience up close the world-famous dancers performing with the musicians.

An ensemble we unfortunately had to miss last year, the Henschel Quartet, is finally allowed to give their concert as planned in an explosive program with great works by Dvorak and Schubert.

The Danish ensemble Trio Vitruvi performs this year at Møn Sommerkoncert with one of the world's big names, viola player and conductor Prof. Harmut Rohde. Among other things, the program will feature the rarely played piano quartet by Schubert. In addition, they present a new piano trio dedicated to the ensemble by the award-winning Danish composer Sune Martin.

A great pleasure is to again bid welcome the English ensemble Atéa Quintet, which was a part of Møn
Sommerkoncert's first season in 2018. The ensemble has since released two albums and has through 2020 made an eminent effort to keep the cultural life in England at right through numerous concerts, masterclasses and lectures all online.

The end of Møn Sommerkoncert is a whole new experience of chamber music and the festival's first Jazz concert. The Danish 4-time Grammy-winning violinist Bjarke Falgren plays his own compositions from his new album 'Origin' with his quartet consisting of some of the Nordic region's most prominent Jazz musicians.

We look forward to opening the door to a number of concerts that will hopefully be allowed to flourish in the Danish summer together with an equally excited audience that we have greatly appreciated and enjoyed welcoming throughout all our seasons.

We look forward to see you all in the days 4th to 8th of August,

Alena & Niklas Walentin
